SAT Superscoring: Check Each Institution’s Policy

Superscoring, score reporting and scholarship eligibility are separate policies. Confirm each one with the institution.
What superscoring means
An institution that superscores combines a student’s strongest section scores from eligible test dates according to its own rules. A hypothetical 700 Reading and Writing plus a 720 Math section would total 1420; that arithmetic does not establish that a particular institution accepts the combination.
Read the current admission instructions
Check whether a college superscores, which tests or dates it accepts, and how scores must be submitted. Do not assume every college has the same policy or that a general test-optional statement covers every program.
Scholarships can use different rules
A scholarship may use a single sitting, a superscore, additional academic criteria or its own deadline. Confirm the current published terms before expecting an award; there is no universal scholarship score threshold.
Decide whether to retest
Balance preparation needs, cost, access and application deadlines. A retake is a personal decision, not a guaranteed score increase or a required minimum number of attempts.
